If your Dyson Is several years old and stops working completely, or you see sparks coming from the area the cable enters the vacuum cleaners body, stop and unplug immediately. It is quite possible that a complete cable repair is required. As with any electrical work if you are at all unsure contact a professional. If this is the fault we should be able to have you up and running pretty quickly with a new safe mains cable fitted for you.
It is also possible that your Dyson or other vacuum cleaner could have developed a fault with its switch. As we carry spare parts for almost all types of vacuum cleaner or ‘hoover’ we can carry out switch repairs. Please call us or drop in your Dyson so we can check the fault for you, quote for repairs and get your vac up and running again.
The performance of many customers cleaners are affected if the filters are not cleaned out regularly, resulting in a clogged up Dyson cleaner.
If you are experiencing a lack of suction in your vacuum cleaner this is quite possibly the root cause. Washing out the filter can deal with a lot of these problems and helps to stop the motor from burning out long before it should.
Once the filter is taken out and washed it is always worth leaving it to dry properly, near a radiator for a day can help. Do not leave it actually on a hot radiator as some parts can melt or become damaged by the direct contact with heat.
You will also find that carpet deodorising products such as shake and vac can block filters on your vac. If you have had building work carried out on your house, vacuuming up plaster or heavy building dust can also cause filters to clog up quite quickly.
If you are a little late in checking your filter for the first time, you may find it has become damaged, shrivelled or shrunken and a smelly. If this is the case, you can purchase new filters from our store. Many people in Solihull and South Birmingham, West Midlands regularly pop in to purchase new filters, or have it done whilst we service your Dyson for you.
If your cable is not being pulled back into your vacuum properly contact us for assistance. Please note that rewind springs can be dangerous and result in injury. It is worth getting an experienced vac repair engineer to look at these for you.
The repair involved when a Dyson vac won’t stand upright on its own correctly is often a fairly straight forward one. You can lie the Dyson on its side and have the base of the vacuum cleaner fully reclined back. Push the pivoting section at the side of the base back up so it is realigned again with the latch it moves back into when not reclined. If you are having trouble with this please contact us or bring your vacuum in so we can see if there is another underlying reason for this fault – we will be able to assist with this.
Back hose still sucks, but Dyson won’t pick up bits on the floor
This is a fairly common problem that is usually due to a snapped belt, which we can supply and replace for you. Damaged belts are also often indicated by a smell of burning rubber. Please call us or bring the machine in so we can carry out the necessary repairs for you.
Other suction problems are sometimes caused by the need to have a belt and brushroll replacement. Signs of this can be a noisy brushbar with ‘whiney’ sounding bearings; suction coming from the pipe but no ‘pick up’ from the bottom.
Some common signs that you have a problem with your Dyson’s motor are:
Many people worry that this means throwing away the investment they have made in a quality vacuum cleaner and having to start again. Don’t be alarmed, give us a call or bring your machine in and we will keep it for a short while and replace the motor for you.
